Survey seeks feedback on potential bus transfer locations

December 4, 2017

Lawrence Transit is conducting an analysis to evaluate potential locations where users of both the City of Lawrence and University of Kansas transit systems can make transfers.

As part of this process, the public is invited to participate in a survey. The survey will be available at https://lawrenceks.org/lawrence-listens/ through December 17th.

Five potential locations for a bus transfer location have been suggested. They are:

  • Vermont Street between Seventh and Eighth streets.
  • Vermont Street between Ninth and Tenth streets.
  • Southeast corner of Bob Billings Parkway and Crestline Drive.
  • 1941 Stewart Ave.
  • Northeast corner of Clinton Parkway and Lawrence Avenue.

Starting last August, members of the public met and were given an initial survey in regards to community values and how those relate to a future location for transit transfer activity. A second survey in October asked the public to prioritize benefits, such as travel time versus operating cost savings.

More recently, a meeting in November asked the public to review five potential sites and analyze them based on items the public identified as important in the previous surveys. A set of posters presented at the November 29 meeting includes more details about the five proposed locations.

This third online survey is the final step in a process of community engagement and technical analysis to determine the best option for a bus transfer location.
