Riding the bus for the first time can be scary, but getting around if you don’t have a car or are unable to drive can be challenging. A good knowledge of all of your transportation options is important. For example, understanding how to find your bus route, read a schedule, and use optional mobile tools to tell when your bus is coming can help greatly.

The transit service in Lawrence is meant for anyone and is designed to be easy to use, comfortable, and friendly—making it a good fit for seniors looking for transportation choices. Many use the bus to get to shopping, the library, appointments, and errands. Sometimes, having a bus buddy is a good way to make the trip more enjoyable.

Recently, representatives from Lawrence Transit have been visiting various retirement facilities in Lawrence to teach residents how to ride the bus and use T Lift paratransit services. Many seniors in Lawrence could be utilizing the bus service, but may not understand how to use it.

In conjunction with the Senior Resource Center, a training open to the general public will be geared towards senior citizens. The training will be:

Attendees will be given a new transit guide and instructions on how to use the bus system. There will also be T Lift applications and information on how to use the paratransit system for those unable to use the T fixed-route system due to a disability.
