Lawrence Transit and MV Transportation were both presented awards for Outstanding Community Partner 2017 at the 16th annual Cottonwood Classies award ceremony on September 25.

“The service that our consumers get from the paratransit staff is, bar none, the best I think it could be,” said Heather Thies, Director of Life Enrichment at Cottonwood, Inc. “That’s why we have the appreciation we do, why they are winning this award, and that is why we take the time to thank them regularly.”

“The drivers always go home at night knowing the importance of what they have done during the day and also the payoff that they get knowing that what they do really matters,” said Mike Sweeten, General Manager, MV Transportation.

Cottonwood provides services to people with developmental disabilities in Lawrence. Each year they celebrate the people they serve, their staff, and members of the community. Lawrence Transit is integral to the success of Cottonwood since many of their consumers use the transit system.
