February 17, 2025

Winter weather cancellations for Lawrence Transit: February 17 – 20

Based on the forecast for winter weather and dangerously cold temperatures, the following plans have been made for Lawrence Transit services. The safety of our bus riders and employees is our priority.

  • Monday, Feb. 17 – On Demand service stops at midnight.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 18 – All service is canceled. No overnight On Demand service.
  • Wednesday, Feb. 19 – All service is canceled. No overnight On Demand service.
  • Thursday, Feb. 20 – City fixed route and paratransit services are canceled. On Demand begins at 8pm.
    • KU will run routes 11, 12, 30-44. Delays are expected.
  • Friday, Feb. 21 – Service planned to resume as usual. On Demand begins at 8pm.

Extremely low temperatures cause operational issues with our diesel and electric fleets. Staff will monitor weather throughout this event. If conditions improve and service becomes feasible, we will alert riders through the channels below.

For more information, see our Inclement Weather policy.

* University routes (30-44) and SafeRide will run if KU classes are in session, as well as limited service on coordinated routes (11-12). Decisions to cancel classes will be announced by KU at alerts.ku.edu.

Updates will be posted on www.lawrencetransit.org, on Facebook @LawrenceTransit, and via our apps for On Demand and fixed-route service (PassioGO). Download apps here: https://lawrencetransit.org/mobile-tools/.
