Lawrence Transit On Demand available now
Lawrence Transit is launching an on-demand service! Download our new app to book free trips evenings and overnight.
Lawrence Transit On Demand is a shared ride service that operates within the city limits. You can expect to see the same friendly bus drivers in our smaller buses that are all ADA accessible and equipped with bike racks. Service is door-to-door, meaning you can schedule a ride between any two places in town.
Going to an evening movie that gets out after 8 p.m.? We’ll pick you up at the theater and drop you off at your front door.
Service runs from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday. Lawrence Transit On Demand will run on Sundays starting in January 2024, as well as extending Saturday hours from midnight to 6 a.m.
Use our new Lawrence Transit On Demand app to book trips or make several reservations at a time. Trips can be scheduled up to five days in advance. If you need to make reservations by phone, call (785) 312-7054 during business hours, Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Lawrence Transit is proud to offer free, on-demand trips during evening and overnight hours,” said Adam Weigel, Transit & Parking Manager. “Between new facilities, new electric buses, an increasing number of improved bus stops, and added technology, we are always looking for opportunities to improve our service.”
Lawrence Transit On Demand is supported by Spare Labs, a microtransit software company that works with transit agencies nationwide. The Kansas Department of Transportation awarded Lawrence Transit with a $124,000 Access, Innovation, and Collaboration grant to launch the service.
