“Central Station sets a new standard for the convenience and comfort of transit in Lawrence,” said Adam Weigel, Transit & Parking Manager. “A unique part of this facility is just how many partnerships add to its quality. We’re excited to welcome the public to see how Central Station helps people make connections to other services and amenities beyond the bus.”
Central Station has eight covered bays for Lawrence Transit buses, as well as bays for the K-10 Connector and Greyhound services. Amenities include public restrooms, an indoor waiting area, a free naloxone vending machine, free library books, bike racks and bike lockers, and digital signs with bus arrival information.
Bus drivers now have access to improved features, including restrooms and a breakroom. Lawrence Transit worked with Tyler Kimball from Monarch Glass Studio to produce several works of blown glass art that are incorporated into the site.
