It was a real culture shock when I moved here [from New Orleans]. Like everything closes so early, I’m used to everything just around the clock you know party all night, sleep all day. And then there’s more things to do, whereas here, it’s Mass Street and that’s it. French quarter, Bourbon Street, you got Canal Street, then you got your little bars here and there.
[I moved to Lawrence] to help my dad out. He had shoulder surgery, two rotator cuff surgeries and back surgery, so he wasn’t able to do for himself. I moved up here to help him out, and then once he was back to at least 60 to 70% I got my own spot and started a family, been here ever since. I loved New Orleans, you know. It’s home, but it’s not a place you wanna raise kids.Other than spend time with my son, I like to go downtown and try different restaurants. My son just turned 12. I plan on travelling once he graduates. My first trip is probably gonna be Maui—sandy beaches, beautiful scenery.
