Student summer bus pass gets kids around town

April 24, 2014

Wherever kids are headed this summer—the pool, parks, library, recreation centers—many of them will be riding the bus. And with the student summer bus pass, they can do so at an affordable price, saving money while also saving mom and dad from making extra trips in the car.

For only $10, the student summer bus pass is good for unlimited rides in June, July and August. The pass is for students in grades K-12. This year, there are several locations to purchase the pass:

  • City Hall, starting May 1
  • Indoor Aquatic Center, starting May 19
  • Outdoor Aquatic Center, starting May 24

Trip planning assistance is available online or over the phone. Bus drivers are also there to help whenever a passenger needs assistance. In addition, kids and parents can send a text message to find when the next bus will arrive at a particular bus stop.

“We heard from parents last year who were very pleased with this new program,” said Robert Nugent, transit administrator. “Riding the bus can give kids independence and take some of the burden off parents during the summer.”
